cross server coms, and perks

Fuck network code. I hate it. The communication between servers is really, REALLY, hard to test, so I just have to try something, and if it doesn’t bring up any sytax errors, leave it there for a while and see if it dies. Horrible way to do things. Lua Socket seems so…. loose, too. maybe I just suck with it, but it’s hard for me to tell if there even IS a connection. I’m gonna wait a bit before I even try to get cross server chat going.

On the bright side, though, I’m redoing the perk system. Well, not a complete overhaul, just the way the sents themselves work. They work fine, mostly, right now, but I’ve had a ton of trouble getting models that weren’t desinged to work for it to work, and I want to be able to do alot more. This new system will just be more streamlined and have equip, think, and unequip functions. I’m going to try to get a lot of hooking going, too. I think I’ll try to make the beer perk slur your speech a bit. After that, I’ll look into effects. I want to make one where when you die, you explode (not doing damage to anything, but it throws your body around). Brian brought up the possiblities of making a cape. At first I said no, but then I remembered this. If Sangui ever gets the tophat done, I’m definately going to make that, and bug him about making a monicle.

Benches

So I got benches working in the Station earlier today.I dunno why, but it’s always seemed very important to me, being able to sit in a chair or something. It was something that kills the immersion. Hell, I first got in contact with Sassafrass by helping him with his couches. I remember spending a ton of time on it in the spring or so, but it was so easy to do today. I know noone else really cares, but for me, this was just something I had to put in.
